The present of the institute ...
The Department of Control and Instrumentation (DCI) was established in 1960 to address the pressing need of experts on control, measurement, instrumentation, and computing technologies. Five years later, a computing research group seceded to start the Department of Automatic Computers, which eventually formed the actual basis for BUT’s Faculty of Information Technology.
Presently, the DCI educates and guides its students to become engineering specialists through the Bachelor’s study program Control and Measurement, the Master’s program Cybernetics, Control and Measurement, and the doctoral version of the latter.
The study tracks offered at the DCI are as follows:
- Control technologies
- Measurement and instrumentation
- Industrial automation
- Industry 4.0
- Artificial intelligence
- Robotics
- Machine vision
- System engineering
- Biomedical engineering
... and its history
The year 2020 marked the 60th anniversary of the department. While the past may not always have been ideal in terms of the spaces and facilities, the current, state-of-the-art teaching rooms and laboratories allow our dedicated staff to deliver effective classes and to perform innovative research. To this end, we take full advantage of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication‘s smart buildings at Technická 12, Brno.
